The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.

Consistent practice equals consistent progress.

Avocado Hummus

My almost over ripe avocado found a purpose today! This stuff is really good. I am going to have to be very careful not to eat too much at once!

Avocado Hummus

1 very ripe avocado
1 can Garbanzo beans (drained and rinsed)
3 Tbsp lime juice
2 Tbsp tahini (I probably use closer to 3)
2 tsp freshly ground black pepper (use more or less depending on how much kick you want)
1 tsp kosher salt
1/4 cup olive or avocado oil (I used some of each)

Dump all ingredients in the food processor except the oil. Process thoroughly, drizzle in oil until smooth and creamy. Chill thoroughly before eating (yeah right!).

NRoL4W - Day 1

Today was my first day following NRoL4W. My eating was not on plan but it wasn't so bad, unless of course you count the brownies that were supposed to go to the mechanic but instead half of them got stuck in the pan!!!! (But we're not counting those are we!) I am not really planning on officially starting until Monday but I went ahead and started the workouts today since it was a weights day anyways. My post workout protein shake was quite good since I am no longer limited to water as a mixer. Of course "quite good" is in comparison to the weird gritty green stuff I was drinking last week. Same protein powder, just mixed in a more palatable way. It was really expensive so I am determined to use it!!! LOL (I am so cheap!)

The workout was crazy short, something like 20 minutes. I also don't think I worked hard enough. I know I didn't for my legs but I am still feeling Monday's Plie Squats From Hell and my adductor is killing me. So today's squats were done body weight only and only about 3/4 of the way down. The arm workout consisted of 60 degree push ups and bent rows. I can most definitely lift heavier than I did today on the bent rows. I will need to get bigger dumbbells before next week. As for the push ups, I need to find a better place to do them. I don't have a good place for 60 degree push ups and I am not quite ready for 45 degree push ups. The ab portion was prone jackknife on the ball. I LOVE working on the ball and I have really good balance on it but these things are down right evil!!!

Body for LIFE Drop Out am I

I am a BFL drop out :(

I have tried to come to terms with the program. I just can't keep up with the diet part of it. If find it way to limiting and I am starting to get sick because of it.

I feel a little bad about quitting so soon but at the same time I don't want to spend another few weeks on something I hate or that causes me so much stress.

I have spent the entire day researching and my brain hurts. BFL seemed so easy on the surface and then after making all the alterations to the program that I needed to make it ended up looking nothing like BFL! LOL

I am the kind of person that needs a program to follow, book to guide me or slave driver standing over me! LOL However, I also have gotten very good at reading my body and I know I can't continue much longer doing what I am doing and eating the way I am eating.

You will likely see posts on The New Rules of Lifting for Women soon. I just read it cover to cover and I did not once read something that I could not do. The author is even supportive of vegetarian and vegan diets. Not that I am either but that is in contrast to BFL which is not veg*an friendly.

BFL - Day 10

The diet portion of this program is killing me. I seriously have to figure something out. I can not eat enough protein to balance the carbs. In order to do that I would have to live on protein shakes or eat meat at every meal. I simply can not do that. I have already given in and I am eating meat at two meals most days. I can't add more. And the concept of beans being a carb... I eat beans and lentils as a meat/protein replacement. What the heck and I supposed to eat with the bean if I don't eat meat.

I am this close to scratching the whole thing and working out my own plan. I hate to quit ten days into it but I have already notice some of my Fibromyalgia symptoms coming back since cutting back on my fat. My body just can not function on a diet that only has 20% fat in it.

Who knows, I am spending today researching food and such and we will see what happens.

BFL - Day 8

Today went pretty well. Dinner was a bit on the heavy side with a couple of no-nos like some Earth Balance and the yolk of my egg. Other than that, and the fact that it is 3 am and I am still awake and starving, eating was good. My workout was awesome this morning. As of right now I can barely feel it. Doubt that will be the case when I wake up in the morning, or later as the case may be!

Food Log:
Breakfast - Baked Oatmeal
Lunch - Tuna Salad with onions, a bit of relish and yellow mustard and 2 slices of whole wheat bread
Snack: Protein Bar
Dinner - Boca burger on roll with a egg (yolk and all) cooked in some Earth Balance

I feel my diet was a bit lacking in produce today!! I must finish grocery shopping tomorrow!

The Best Way to Run

This was a very help website to help me see the proper way for my foot to strike the ground when running.
